Linda Puetz is a licensed clinical professional counselor who earned her Doctorate in Counseling from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s degree in School Psychology from Western Illinois University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Those who know Linda well describe her as very optimistic, kind, and affirming of others. Linda has been further impelled to act in support of the mental health needs of others while knowing firsthand the restrictions of quarantine life.

Throughout her career, Linda has helped people with issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, grief, relationship struggles, workplace challenges, life transitions, and parenting issues. Her previous work for decades in the very esteemed Western suburb school districts taught her plenty of what it means to advocate for students, parents, and the bridge between schools and mental health care. Currently, as a therapist at Willis CC, she describes her ideal guests as parents with children, aged birth to 11 years, who are experiencing any challenges; parents with children who have identified disabilities; children experiencing anxiety, including severe forms such as Selective Mutism; and parents who have concerns with their child’s Individual Education Plans.

Linda’s approach is to use evidence-based techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and a strong counseling partnership that is affirming and inclusive. Ultimately, she aims to collaborate with guests to understand the values and beliefs that impact how they look at their lives, then help them foster self-compassion, flexible thinking patterns, and mindsets that promote psychological wellness. As the poet Maya Angelou said, “Lift up your hearts. Each new hour holds new chances for new beginnings.”

In her free time, Linda enjoys spending time with family and friends, bicycle rides, reading for her book club, and golfing. She also completed the Great British Bike Ride bicycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Linda is currently accepting new guests via telehealth.
