Email about Jaque

Jaque Barr is a licensed social worker who earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Social Work at Northern Michigan University and the University of Illinois at Chicago, respectively. Jaque found his inspiration to become a therapist after realizing that his naturally empathetic personality was a strength, rather than a weakness.

Before coming to Willis CC, Jaque gained valuable experience working at an inpatient mental health hospital and assisting the US veteran population—specifically, helping those experiencing homelessness to obtain adequate housing. At Willis CC, he looks forward to working with everyone from adolescents to middle-aged adults.

Those who know Jaque best would describe him as empathetic, sincere, and genuine. His goal as a therapist is to continually improve to have a positive impact on every guest. He recognizes that everyone has a unique story and feels honored and humbled that guests are willing to be vulnerable and share their own. Ultimately, he’s a firm believer in accepting guests as they are while doing his best to promote a safe environment for genuine dialogue and connection.

A native of Portland, MI, Jaque is an Army veteran who enjoys working out, relaxing with friends, or reading a great book. He’s a huge Marvel fan, started his Dungeons and Dragons podcast, and his favorite book is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

“I expect to pass through this life but once. If therefore there can be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, as I shall not pass this way again.” – William Penn
