Colleen Hawking, LCSW
Colleen Hawking received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago where she specialized in Forensic Mental Health. Her commitment to supporting others can be seen in her involvement in the fitness and health community, her love of animals-especially her dog, and her strong passion to advocate for others.
Her role in the social services industry has evolved and she has held a number of different roles. In her career she served as a case manager and provided extended treatment services at a community-based organization. Her passion for serving the underserved is strong. She also worked for some time in the Department of Corrections where she led emotional literacy groups and conducted a variety of assessments.
Overall her shift into the Private Practice setting is one that is well suited for her. Her clinical experience ranges from with adults struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions for young adults, relationship issues and substance abuse. Her keen ability to target goals with others is solid and she is one who is dedicated to helping others reach those goals. She has a strong skill in using Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Strengths Perspective.
Guests open to the endless possibilities of growth and change will find her approach to be refreshing. Through the utilization of the therapeutic process, guests can obtain the skills and insight in order to achieve growth and positive change and will find Colleen refreshing.
Colleen loves knitting, exercising, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog. She is currently accepting new guests at our Wicker Park & Old Town locations.
