Catherine Kate Nemchausky
Catherine “Kate” Nemchausky, LPC
Kate Nemchausky is a licensed professional counselor who earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Adler University of Chicago. Those closest to her would describe her as passionate, strong, outspoken, and an advocate for those dealing with family planning concerns.
Kate became a therapist to help people understand that they deserve to live a fulfilling life, and most importantly, to know that they are not “broken.” Since it is not her first career, she brings a freshness many find enlightening. Mostly, she wants to help people believe that they have the control and/or power to make positive change in their lives based on their own unique experiences.
In Kate’s opinion, a therapist allows you the space to safely speak your truth, explore your identity and what that means to you, and learn how to approach life with that knowledge. You might be going through life transitions and adjustments such as changes in relationships, living situations, or career. You might be a mother trying to navigate through your new or continuing role, experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety, or trying to recover from loss. You might want to heal wounds left from past traumas and gain insight into how you can move forward. Together, she feels that she and her guests can embark on a journey of healing, knowledge, and self-discovery.
Kate uses a holistic approach that is person-centered and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), Journal Therapy, and mindfulness. Currently, her focus is on perinatal/maternal mental health, life transitions, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, identity and self-compassion, and mood disorders.
By providing compassion, empathy, and authenticity, Kate hopes to support and empower you to start practicing self-love and acceptance. In a safe and supportive environment, she will give you the tools to make change, and assist you in restoring confidence in your own abilities to lead a healthy, authentic, and fulfilling life.
In her free time, Kate enjoys traveling with her husband and two children, cooking, and throwing parties. Her favorite places to vacation are Cape Cod and Mystic, RI. Kate is currently accepting new guests via telehealth and at our Naperville and Old Town studios.
