Email about Canentra

Canentra Williams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that earned a Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University at Chicago as well as a Master of Science degree with a focus on child development from Erikson Institute after collecting a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a focus on Ethnic Studies from Lawrence University.

Canentra has provided clinical services in a wide range of capacities – from working with a community mental health facility to youth residential care to clinical case management services to individuals & families within a permanent supportive housing program who have experienced homelessness to her current role as a program manager with the same program. She has also spent several years of experience working with children & families, including a few years jump-starting a daycare program & implementing best practices there.

Engaging in therapy can be hard work. Canentra’s ideal WCC guest would be someone ready for a challenge & open to building a therapeutic alliance that includes a non-judgmental space that allows for true, honest exploration & feedback. Even if ambivalent at first, it will be their shared goal to work through any difficulties & towards the goals a guest sets. In her room, sessions are client-centered & she always meets guests where they’re at. When necessary, however, she’s not afraid to offer the kind of feedback & pushback guests may need at times to further their journey. Parents appreciate her approach and young professionals find her direction to be enlightening.

Canentra is a Chicago native who spends her free time having fun with her 3-year-old son as he asks 50 questions per minute about all the things he doesn’t understand & random thoughts that pop in his head. (It’s actually pretty great!) She also enjoys spending time with family & friends on occasion. And, on rare occasions, you may catch her enjoying some “just me time.”
