Courtney Schwabauer, LSW
Courtney is a licensed social worker who earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Michigan. Those who know her best would describe her as kind, caring, funny, and genuine. Courtney wanted to be a therapist because she understands the value of having a nonjudgmental, empathetic person to talk to about private thoughts, challenges, and experiences. Her goal is to support guests in gaining a deeper sense of self and increased awareness of their emotions and beliefs.
Previously, Courtney worked with adults of all ages, from college-age students to folks in their 90s. At WillisCC, she looks forward to helping guests experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, chronic disability, and life transitions. She also enjoys working with guests who are exploring their gender and/or sexuality.
Courtney’s therapeutic approach incorporates Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of guests.
Ultimately, she aims to provide guests with a safe, designated space and time to explore their thoughts and feelings, which can help them find new perspectives, build upon strengths they may not realize they have, and feel empowered to take on new challenges.
In her spare time, Courtney enjoys hiking, reading, watercolor painting, and taking care of her 24 houseplants.
Courtney is currently accepting new guests at all of our studios and via telehealth.
