Email about Amber

Amber Reed is a licensed clinical social worker and certified alcohol and other drug abuse counselor who earned her master’s degree in Social Work at Aurora University. After her own experiences in therapy, Amber felt the calling to become a therapist herself to help others with their difficulties.

Before coming to Willis CC, Amber gained considerable expertise working as a counselor and group facilitator at a substance misuse clinic. At Willis CC, she looks forward to working with adult guests struggling with substance misuse—with or without co-occurring mental health issues—as well as guests dealing with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and trauma.

Those closest to Amber describe her as outgoing, funny, empathetic, authentic, and direct. She believes therapy provides growth opportunities, guidance through uncomfortable emotions, and space to reflect and find a deeper connection with oneself. Ultimately, she wants to use empathy and motivation to inspire and guide those who’ve been struggling or feel alone with their thoughts or emotions. As a registered yoga teacher, she integrates the values, ethics, and principles of yoga and guided meditation to strengthen the mind/body connection.

An Aurora, IL native, Amber describes herself as “tall as a baby zebra,” though the people who know her best describe her as funny, direct, sarcastic, kind, and open. In her spare time, she loves painting, creating abstract art, and spending time in nature strengthening the mind-body connection by practicing yoga outdoors.

“If what you seek you find not within, you will not find without.”
